Trump predicts Iran war ends after US election; 9,000 troops move

President Donald Trump has predicted the seven-month US-Iran war will end “right after the election”, referring to the midterm elections in early November. “Maybe before the election,” he added.
Speaking at a Peterbilt Motors facility in Denton, Texas, on Thursday night, Trump said Iran “is ready to fold up” and that he was “ensuring that Iran will be very quickly ended”. He promised energy prices would come down rapidly.
The same day, US officials confirmed to CBS News that the USS Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group and the USS Makin Island Amphibious Group are heading to the Middle East. About 7,000 sailors and 2,000 Marines are on their way.
The deployment would bring total US forces in the region to about 20,000, with three carrier strike groups. The Wall Street Journal reported that Trump told aides he expects to resume bombing Iran in November, after the midterms.
