Trump Announces $90 One-Time Payment for 20 Million Seniors

President Donald Trump has announced a one-time $90 payment to more than 20 million seniors enrolled in Medicare. The payments are expected to be sent by direct deposit in early October.
The money comes from the Medicare Improvement Fund, a $2 billion fund created in 2008. The White House says the payment recognises seniors facing higher living costs.
Not everyone on Medicare qualifies. Those enrolled in both Medicare and Medicaid, people who pay higher premiums under IRMAA rules, and Medicare Advantage members are excluded. The standard Part B premium is currently $202.90 per month.
Critics questioned the timing — a month before the midterms — calling it a campaign-season handout. Supporters say any relief helps seniors on fixed incomes. The announcement follows Trump's separate, much larger promise of $5,000 cheques for all adults if Republicans keep Congress. The White House said most seniors will get the $90 by direct deposit in early October, with paper cheques mailed to those without bank details on file.
