Swiss President Guy Parmelin to visit India from October 5 to 7

Swiss President Guy Parmelin will pay a state visit to India from October 5 to 7, at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Ministry of External Affairs said.
On October 5, the two leaders will hold bilateral talks on trade, investment, science, technology, mobility and culture, and discuss regional and global developments.
Parmelin will be accompanied by a high-level delegation of senior officials and business leaders. During the visit, he will meet President Droupadi Murmu, who will host an official banquet, and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will call on him.
It is his first state visit to India and his second visit this year, after the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi in February.
The visit marks the first anniversary of the India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement, which came into force on October 1, 2025. Parmelin will take part in the second India-EFTA Prosperity Summit on October 7.
The pact, signed in March 2024 with Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein, carries a commitment of $100 billion in investment into India over 15 years and one million direct jobs. Switzerland is India’s largest trade and investment partner among the four EFTA nations.
