Saudi Arabia intercepts three Houthi missiles, one hurt

Saudi Arabia intercepted three Houthi ballistic missiles on Friday. The missiles were aimed at the southwestern city of Khamis Mushait.
Coalition spokesman Major General Turki Al-Maliki said air defences destroyed the missiles in the air. One was intercepted at about 3 a.m. local time. Four Houthi drones were also intercepted.
On Saturday, falling shrapnel from an intercepted missile injured one resident. The incident took place in Ahad Rafidah in the Asir region. A prayer room and several vehicles were damaged.
Separately, a Houthi projectile hit a school in Najran on Friday. It caused material damage but no casualties, Saudi civil defence said.
The Houthis claimed Saudi Arabia carried out 94 attacks in Yemen in the previous 24 hours. That claim could not be independently verified.
Fighting has also intensified around Taiz, Yemen’s third-largest city. Clashes have spread to mountain areas overlooking the Red Sea coast.
The escalation comes amid a wider regional conflict. The Houthis have stepped up missile and drone attacks on Saudi cities and energy sites.
