Russian weapons land in Moldova as Kyiv bridges hit for third day

Five Russian air weapons entered Moldovan airspace and exploded on its territory during overnight strikes on Ukraine, President Maia Sandu said on Saturday. The weapons included three Banderol missiles and two drones.

“Russia’s war is dangerously reaching Moldova,” Sandu posted on X. Moldova’s defence ministry said it tracked the weapons near Anenii Noi, Stefan Voda, Tudora and Causeni, and reported fires and property damage but no casualties. Police and army teams were sent to secure the debris, and Moldova summoned the Russian ambassador in protest.

Russian attacks across Ukraine killed at least eight civilians and injured 83 others over the past day, regional authorities said. Ukraine’s Air Force said Russia launched 157 drones in the overnight wave, of which air defences intercepted 131.

In Kyiv, a strike damaged the Northern Bridge, suspending traffic for a third straight day as Russia targets bridges over the Dnipro River. Mayor Vitalii Klitschko said the road surface and tram cables were damaged, with no casualties reported.

Moldova has faced repeated airspace violations as Russia strikes southern Ukraine. Lithuania briefly closed Vilnius airport on Saturday after spotting a suspicious object in the sky.
