Russian strikes killed eight people across Ukraine on Sunday, September 27, authorities said. Three people, including a 16-year-old girl, died when strikes hit a children’s centre in the northern city of Sumy, Interior Minister Ivan Vyhivskyi said.

Three more people were killed in night-time strikes on the southern Zaporizhzhia region, and a Russian drone strike killed one man in Kyiv, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said. Regional authorities said a “massive strike” on the Odesa region killed one more person and damaged housing, a shop and a medical building.

In Kyiv, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said a drone hit a nine-story apartment block, wounding at least one woman. Drones also struck cars in the northeastern Kharkiv region. Zelenskyy said Russia had deployed 277 attack drones since Saturday, including faster jet-powered models that are harder to intercept.

Both sides deny targeting civilians. The strikes came a day after Moscow vowed to achieve its war aims “no matter the circumstances.” Zelenskyy called the attacks “terrorism,” saying Russia has “no military objective whatsoever” in hitting civilian targets.
