Pornhub returns to Australia after Apple age-check rollout

Pornhub is restoring access for Australian adults. The move follows Apple’s device-level age verification rollout.

Parent company Aylo blocked Australian users in March 2026. The block came after new online safety codes demanded strict age checks.

Aylo said the old requirements would not protect minors. It also flagged data privacy risks for users.

Now Apple has built age checks into iOS in Australia. Users can verify age with a card, ID scan or account history.

Aylo vice-president Alex Kekesi confirmed the return. He said Apple’s approach sets a benchmark for child safety.

Australia’s online safety codes took effect in March 2026. They require adult sites to verify users are 18 or older. Fines can reach A$49.5 million for breaches. Aylo had argued the rules would not protect minors. VPN downloads surged after the March block. The eSafety commissioner is monitoring compliance. Apple rolled out the age checks in Australia last month. Users verify via card, ID scan or account history. Child safety groups welcomed the move.
