Palantir CEO Alex Karp buys 37,000 acres of Swedish forest

Palantir chief executive Alex Karp has bought a huge tract of forest in central Sweden, a purchase worth about 235 million Swedish kronor, or roughly $22 million.
The deal covers 15,000 hectares, around 37,000 acres, in the Harjedalen region. Karp made the purchase through his company Cladonia Skog AB.
The sale has upset local hunters. Several hunting clubs lost their leases on the land after the ownership changed hands, cutting off access to grounds they had used for years.
Karp is one of the tech industry's most prominent billionaires. His purchases of rural land have drawn attention before, but this is among his largest.
Swedish property records confirm the transaction. Neither Karp nor Palantir has commented publicly on the purchase.
Local politicians have raised questions about foreign ownership of large rural tracts. The Swedish government has been reviewing rules around land sales to foreign buyers.
At 235 million kronor for 15,000 hectares, the deal values the land at roughly 15,700 kronor per hectare. Forestry officials say large-scale foreign purchases of Swedish woodland have risen in recent years.
