Nigeria Air Force plane crash kills all 32 on board

All 32 people aboard a Nigerian Air Force plane were killed when the aircraft crashed near Igbokoda in Ondo State on October 5.

The ATR-42, flight NAF931, was carrying 25 passengers and seven crew members. It went down in a remote area, and wreckage was located by search teams later in the day.

President Bola Tinubu ordered a full investigation into the cause. The Air Force said it had dispatched investigators to the site.

Nigeria's military has suffered several aviation accidents in recent years. The crashes have raised questions about fleet maintenance and the age of some aircraft.

The presidency expressed condolences to the families of the dead. Flags were ordered to fly at half-mast at military installations.

Officials have not released the identities of the victims. An Air Force spokesman said the families would be notified before names are made public.

The ATR-42 is a twin-engine turboprop widely used for military and regional transport. The Air Force said a board of inquiry would establish the cause, and pledged support for the victims' families.
