Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will address the Naval Commanders’ Conference, the Indian Navy’s top-level meeting where senior leadership reviews strategy and operations.

The conference brings together the Navy’s senior commanders to discuss operational readiness, training and the security situation in the Indian Ocean region. Maritime challenges, from piracy to regional tensions, are expected to figure in the discussions.

India has been steadily expanding its naval capabilities, with new ships, submarines and aircraft joining the fleet. The conference is also likely to review progress on indigenous warship construction under the Make in India push.

The Defence Minister’s address will set the tone for the Navy’s priorities in the coming months. With the Indo-Pacific gaining strategic importance, the meeting carries weight beyond routine planning. The Navy has also been conducting joint exercises with friendly foreign navies through the year. Such engagements are expected to continue as part of India’s wider maritime outreach.
