Iran tells Americans Trump’s war has failed, urges change

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has told the American public that Washington’s war against Iran has failed, in a direct message aimed at US voters ahead of the November 3 midterm elections.
Gen. Hossein Mohebbi, the Guard’s spokesman, read from what he called a “letter to the American people” at a news conference in Tehran on Tuesday. He said the only way the war ends is for Washington to admit defeat and leave.
Mohebbi urged Americans to reconsider their leaders and take to the streets to protest US policies. He accused the US of using Iran’s nuclear program as a ruse to plunder the country’s wealth.
The message comes about seven months after the US-Israel war against Iran began. The US has recently imposed new sanctions targeting people and companies accused of supplying Iran’s military.
Iran’s currency fell to a record low on Tuesday, with traders exchanging more than 2.5 million rials to the dollar. The currency has repeatedly hit new lows since the war began in February.
