Houthis claim missile attacks on Saudi airports

Yemen’s Houthi rebels have claimed missile attacks on two Saudi Arabian airports. The group said it fired a ballistic missile toward Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport on Wednesday.
Saudi officials said the missile was stopped, but falling pieces caused damage. One Sudanese resident was killed, and eight people were hurt. Flights at the airport were briefly disrupted.
The group also claimed an attack on Abha airport in the southwest on Tuesday. Saudi officials said that attack killed two women, one Moroccan and one Algerian, and wounded 28 people.
The Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation confirmed that both airports were targeted on October 6 and 7. Saudi military spokesman Turki al-Maliki said the army destroyed the missile launcher. He warned the group may be planning more attacks.
The Houthis told airlines to avoid Saudi airspace. They said the attacks were a response to the conflict in Yemen.
In a sign of the growing crisis, Pakistan confirmed it has troops in Saudi Arabia. The escalation has raised fears of a wider conflict across the Middle East.
