Houthi strikes on Riyadh airport kill three, Saudia jet hit

Houthi strikes targeted Riyadh’s airport on October 8, killing three Saudi nationals. A Saudia aircraft on the ground was also damaged in the attack.
The strikes mark an escalation in the region’s long-running conflict. Aviation bodies EASA and OPSGROUP issued warnings for the surrounding airspace. Lufthansa and three Indian airlines suspended flights to Riyadh after the incident.
Saudi officials condemned the attack. They said air defences intercepted some of the incoming projectiles. An assessment of the airport’s damage is now underway.
The incident has raised fresh concerns about the safety of Gulf air routes. Airlines said they will review operations based on official advisories. Passengers have been asked to check flight status before travel.
The Houthis have targeted Saudi infrastructure several times in recent years. Riyadh has invested heavily in missile defence since the conflict began. Regional analysts warned of further escalation in the coming weeks. The UN has called for restraint from all sides.
