Five Held Over Suspected RAF Fairford Plot Released

Five people arrested over a suspected bomb plot at RAF Fairford in Britain have been released, police said on Tuesday, as the investigation into the alleged terror plan continues.
The arrests had raised alarm because Fairford hosts US forces and is a key allied airbase. The Wall Street Journal reported that investigators are examining a possible link to Iran, though no charges have been announced.
British police have not detailed why the five were released, and officials stressed that the inquiry remains active. Counter-terrorism cases in Britain often involve early arrests followed by release while evidence is assessed.
The Times reported the release as the probe enters its next phase. Security around the base and other military sites is expected to stay tight.
The case has drawn attention in Washington too, given the base’s role in US operations. Any confirmed foreign link would carry serious diplomatic consequences, but police cautioned against drawing conclusions while the investigation is under way.
