Eiffel Tower chief to step down at end of 2026
The head of the company that operates the Eiffel Tower is set to step down at the end of 2026, marking a leadership change at one of the world’s most visited monuments.
Patrick Branco Ruivo, who leads the Societe d’Exploitation de la Tour Eiffel (SETE), will leave the post at the end of 2026, according to reports.
The Eiffel Tower, completed in 1889 for the Paris World’s Fair, draws around seven million visitors a year, making it among the most visited paid monuments in the world. SETE manages the monument’s operations, maintenance and ticketing.
The leadership transition comes as Paris continues to build on the legacy of recent mega-events hosted in the city. The tower remains central to the French capital’s tourism economy and its global image.
A successor is expected to be named in the coming months. The change at the top of SETE will be closely watched by the tourism industry, given the monument’s outsized role in Paris’s visitor economy.
