A 63-year-old Central Coast man has been sentenced to six years in prison for watching live-streamed child sexual abuse. The Gosford District Court handed down the sentence on September 25, with a four-year non-parole period.

The man came to police attention after the Australian Federal Police received a report about an online user discussing child sex trafficking and possible live streaming. He was arrested at Wyongah, NSW, in September 2025.

Police found a nine-minute screen recording of live online child sexual abuse on his devices. He had also wired 2000 Philippine pesos, about $46, to a Filipino number.

Intelligence from the case was shared with police in the Philippines. On June 3, 2026, officers conducted an operation in Bulacan that removed three children from harm. A 43-year-old woman was charged with child exploitation offences.

The man pleaded guilty on June 30, 2026. The AFP said the case shows how international cooperation can rescue victims of online abuse.
