Anduril to build $6.6B autonomous submarine plant in Baltimore

Defence tech firm Anduril has announced a $6.6 billion autonomous submarine facility. It will be built at Sparrows Point near Baltimore.
President Donald Trump visited the site on October 6. The visit underlined the project’s strategic weight for US naval plans.
The facility will produce autonomous underwater vessels. These drones are designed for surveillance and naval operations.
It is one of the largest private defence manufacturing bets in the US this year. The project is expected to create thousands of jobs.
Anduril has grown fast on Pentagon contracts. The Baltimore plant cements its push into large-scale naval systems.
Sparrows Point was once home to a major steel mill. The site is being redeveloped as an industrial hub. Anduril plans to use advanced manufacturing methods at the plant. Autonomous underwater vessels are a growing priority for navies. They can patrol for weeks without crews. The company said construction timelines will be announced soon.
