What is the Board of Peace? Trump’s Gaza body explained

The Board of Peace is a US-backed body launched by President Donald Trump in January 2026 to oversee the Israel-Hamas peace process and Gaza’s postwar reconstruction. It is the institutional arm of Trump’s plan to end the Gaza war.
Its key members include US envoy Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner – who sits on the Gaza Executive Board – and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The board works with donor countries, which are being asked to fund Gaza’s rebuilding.
The board backs Trump’s 20-point plan. The framework includes the October 2025 ceasefire, the return of all hostages, Hamas disarmament, phased Israeli troop withdrawal, an International Stabilization Force and a new apolitical Palestinian administration for day-to-day governance.
On September 23, 2026, the board unveiled a $2.45 billion, 66-project, six-month recovery blueprint. So far $18 billion has been pledged but only $280 million disbursed. Hamas disarmament remains the central sticking point. Reconstruction has not yet begun; the board says projects will start as soon as funding and access allow.
