Veteran actor Nana Patekar died on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at the age of 75. Here is what has been confirmed so far.

According to reports, Patekar suffered a severe cardiac arrest at his home in Dona Paula, Goa. He was found unconscious in the early hours of Thursday morning.

He was rushed to Manipal Hospital, where doctors attempted resuscitation for around 45 minutes. He was declared dead at about 5:20 in the morning.

A medico-legal case has been registered, and his body has been taken to Goa Medical College for a post-mortem examination. The final medical cause of death will come from that report.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute, calling him one of Indian cinema’s finest actors with rare intensity and honesty. Jr NTR, Riteish Deshmukh and Ram Gopal Varma were among those who shared condolences.

Patekar debuted in Gaman in 1978 and won three National Film Awards and the Padma Shri in 2013. He remained active in films in his later years, appearing in Housefull 5.

What is not yet known: the post-mortem findings and funeral arrangements, which the family has not yet announced.
