WhatsApp Business charges explained: what firms will pay

Meta has changed how it charges businesses on WhatsApp. Here is what Indian companies will pay from October 1.
Until now, businesses could reply to customers free within 24 hours of the customer’s message. That free window is now paid.
Each business phone number gets 1,000 free service messages a month. After that, every reply costs money at the utility rate.
In India, the utility rate is Rs 0.115 per delivered message, before GST. Utility templates sent inside the 24-hour window are also billed.
Marketing messages cost Rs 0.8631 per message. Authentication messages like OTPs cost Rs 0.115 each.
Regular WhatsApp users see no change. The free WhatsApp Business app used by small merchants is also unaffected. Big companies with chatbots will feel the change most, since long chains of short messages now cost money. The change applies only to the paid WhatsApp Business Platform, not the free app used by small merchants. Meta revises WhatsApp pricing four times a year, on January 1, April 1, July 1 and October 1.
