TSMC September revenue jumps 54 percent

TSMC reported September revenue of about NT$551.86 billion, up 54.6 percent from a year earlier, extending a strong run of monthly results. Third-quarter revenue reached roughly NT$1.49 trillion, above market expectations. The numbers point to robust demand for advanced chips used by Nvidia, AMD and other AI customers. The stock rallied as the revenue beat raised hopes for the coming earnings discussion on capital spending and 2-nanometre production. In related news, GlobalFoundries announced a $2 billion, five-year deal to supply silicon interposers for TSMC’s advanced packaging ecosystem from its Malta, New York, plant. Production ramps in the first half of 2028. Advanced packaging has become a major bottleneck for AI chips. Despite the strong numbers, shares faced pressure as rising oil prices and bond yields hit high-valuation tech stocks. Analysts say the market wants more guidance before extending the rally. TSMC’s strong quarter shows AI hardware demand remains firm, even as the broader market turns cautious on expensive technology shares.
