SolidRun, Shikino bring vision AI to Renesas chips

SolidRun and Japan’s Shikino High-Tech have integrated a Shikino camera with SolidRun’s Renesas-based computing platforms, creating a validated foundation for vision AI applications. The companies announced the integration on October 5.
Shikino’s KBCR-S08MM camera now works with SolidRun’s HummingBoard RZ/V2N single-board computer and its SolidSense AIoT platform. The joint engineering covers the camera adapter, drivers and Linux software support.
HummingBoard gives developers a flexible environment for building and testing vision AI systems. SolidSense AIoT extends the same capabilities to field-deployed devices.
The kit aims to cut development time for engineers building products with machine vision, robotics and predictive maintenance. Edge AI hardware is in growing demand as factories, cities and vehicles need fast on-device processing without sending data to the cloud.
Together, the platforms cover the path from development to deployment for applications like machine vision, industrial automation, robotics, smart monitoring and inspection systems. The announcement targets the growing market for edge AI, where computing happens on the device rather than in the cloud.
