OpenAI in talks for $30 billion funding round with UAE funds

OpenAI is in talks with several UAE investment funds to anchor a funding round of at least $30 billion. Bloomberg reported the development on 6 October.
The Abu Dhabi-based fund MGX is among those in discussions.
The UAE funds are talking about forming a syndicate. It could invest up to $10 billion combined.
BlackRock is also in talks to join the consortium.
OpenAI is pitching a valuation of about $1.4 trillion.
The company has set the price itself, without a lead investor. That is unusual for venture financing.
The proposed round follows a $122 billion raise in March 2026 at an $852 billion valuation.
OpenAI has pushed back its IPO plans to at least next year. The company wants to focus on AI safety work first.
Others in discussions include the University of California endowment, Thrive Capital and Andreessen Horowitz.
MGX also backs Anthropic and xAI.
Terms of the round could still change.
