OpenAI in Talks for $30 Billion Funding Round

OpenAI is in talks to raise up to $30 billion in a new funding round, Bloomberg reported on October 5. The round would value the company at about $1.4 trillion before the investment.
The discussions involve funds from the United Arab Emirates, including MGX, and US asset manager BlackRock. A UAE consortium could contribute up to $10 billion, sources said.
The talks are at an early stage, and details could change. OpenAI’s last major round in March raised $122 billion at an $852 billion valuation.
The company has also pushed its planned IPO to 2027. CEO Sam Altman has said the focus remains on AI safety even as the company scales rapidly.
OpenAI’s revenue run rate is now around $70 billion. The fresh funds would fuel its massive spending on computing infrastructure and talent.
The round would be one of the largest private fundraisings in history. It shows investors still believe AI companies can grow into their sky-high valuations.
