Musk Says He Will Rename SpaceXAI to SpaceXSI

Elon Musk has said he will rename his AI venture SpaceXAI to SpaceXSI, following a directive from US President Donald Trump. “Yes, we will make that change,” Musk said on October 4, days after Trump signed an executive order on September 29 on the issue.
Trump had raised the matter in his address to the UN General Assembly, arguing the name change was needed. The order appears to relate to branding around space and AI assets, though the White House has not detailed the reasoning beyond the President’s remarks.
Musk, who has aligned himself closely with the Trump administration, agreed swiftly. The rebrand will affect one of the most watched companies in the AI race, which is building massive data centres and its Grok chatbot. It is the latest example of the unusual interplay between the White House and Musk’s business empire, spanning SpaceX, Tesla, X, and now the renamed AI venture.
