Meta Poaches MongoDB CEO to Lead New Enterprise Platform
Meta has hired MongoDB’s chief executive to run a new enterprise division. Chirantan “CJ” Desai will lead the Meta Enterprise Platform, reporting directly to Mark Zuckerberg.
Desai had been MongoDB’s CEO for less than a year, since November 2025. His departure sent MongoDB shares down about 18 percent. Chairman Dev Ittycheria will serve as interim chief executive.
The new Meta division sells AI tools to businesses. Its products include Muse, the Meta Business Agent and the Muse API. Meta launched the platform to compete with Microsoft and Google for corporate AI spending.
Desai is an experienced software executive. Before MongoDB he was president and chief operating officer of ServiceNow. He also worked at Cloudflare.
Meta launched its consumer AI assistant Muse earlier this month. The enterprise push is the next step in its plan to make money from artificial intelligence.
Investors will watch whether Desai can win over big corporate customers. Enterprise software is a crowded market with deep-pocketed rivals.
