IICT, YouTube unveil four AI-made short films

Four AI-enabled short films have been unveiled under the “Create with AI” programme. The project is a tie-up between the Indian Institute of Creative Technology (IICT) and YouTube.
The films are “DEVI: The Nine Astras” (Kalpanik Films), “Laika” (Karthik Kult Kreations), “Chekavar” (Avium Studios), and “CHANAKYA – The Mind of an Empire” (Eleventh Door Studio).
They were unveiled at the IICT Theatre in Mumbai on October 7. Filmmaker Rajesh Mapuskar attended the event.
The programme was announced in November 2025. It aims to train young creators in using AI tools for filmmaking.
A new report on generative media says AI tools can boost productivity by about 20%. That is equal to about 10 extra weeks of work in a year.
The four films mix myth, history, and drama. They show how Indian studios are using AI in real productions.
More such films are expected as the programme grows. IICT plans to support new talent from across the country.
