Meta Unveils Camera-Free Glasses, 100-Gram VR Glasses

Meta used its Connect 2026 event to unveil a new hardware lineup headlined by camera-free Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses and a featherweight Meta VR Glasses headset.
The Ray-Ban Meta Audio are Meta’s first smart glasses without a camera, weighing 43 grams. They use open-ear speakers, support music, calls and the Muse AI assistant, and are claimed to offer 12 hours of battery life with a charging case adding 48 more. Pre-orders opened at $349, with shipping from October 13.
Meta also launched the third-generation Ray-Ban Meta with a slimmer design, 3K video recording and six microphones, starting at $449.
The Meta VR Glasses weigh 100 grams and feature a 5K micro-OLED display, Snapdragon Reality Elite chipset and support for hologram video calls. They will launch in spring 2027 at $1,299.
The camera-free design follows a year of privacy debates around always-on recording eyewear. Meta says the audio-only glasses offer a privacy-conscious alternative for everyday wear.
