Trump, tech CEOs sign voluntary AI safety pact

US President Donald Trump and six tech executives have signed a voluntary AI safety accord at the White House on September 29.
The signatories are Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, OpenAI President Greg Brockman and xAI CEO Elon Musk.
The one-page document asks companies to monitor their most capable models during training and use. It covers risks like cyberattacks and biological or chemical threats.
Companies will set up internal teams to check safeguards. Independent auditors will assess the controls, and board committees will review findings.
The agreement has no enforcement mechanism and no deadline. Companies choose their own auditors and do not have to name them.
Trump called the pact morally binding and almost like a constitution. He plans to set up a 10-member AI safety board and appoint a White House AI policy official. House Speaker Mike Johnson attended the White House meeting and described the document as a voluntary set of industry standards.
