Gold Prices Fall in Chennai on October 6

Gold buyers in Chennai got some relief on October 6. Prices of the yellow metal declined across categories in the city, tracking a soft national trend.
24-karat gold fell Rs 160 per 10 grams to Rs 1,49,020. 22-karat gold dropped Rs 150 to Rs 1,36,600 per 10 grams. The price per sovereign, the unit most buyers track, fell Rs 120 to Rs 1,09,280.
The decline mirrored moves in other metros. On the MCX, gold futures slipped 0.05 percent in morning trade. Silver also eased 0.10 percent, showing broad weakness in precious metals.
Rates moved in a narrow range through the day. Traders said global cues and a steady rupee weighed on prices. Jewellers expect buying interest to pick up if the soft trend holds. Buyers eyeing festive and wedding purchases may find current levels attractive compared to recent highs. Analysts advise comparing making charges across jewellers, as they can vary widely and affect the final price.
