AI Startup Ema Raises $77 Million to Build ‘AI Employees’

Enterprise AI startup Ema has raised $77 million in a Series B round led by Creaegis, the company announced on September 23. The round takes Ema’s total funding to $140 million and values it at four times its previous round.
The round saw participation from Accel, Section 32 and Prosus. Ema was founded by former Google and Coinbase executives Surojit Chatterjee and Souvik Sen.
Ema builds what it calls AI employees: autonomous agents that handle work across human resources, IT support and finance. The company says its revenue has grown 50 times over the past two years as enterprises adopt agentic AI.
The funding reflects continued investor appetite for enterprise AI even as the market matures. With Indian-origin founders and a global customer base, Ema is part of a wave of AI startups building from distributed teams across India and the US.
Investor interest in agentic AI has stayed strong through 2026 as companies move from pilots to full deployments. Ema competes in a crowded field where differentiation rests on reliability and measurable returns for customers.
