DSCI launches ‘Be Cyber Street Smart’ campaign at BSE

The Data Security Council of India (DSCI) has launched a nationwide cyber security awareness campaign called ‘Be Cyber Street Smart’. The campaign was launched at the Bombay Stock Exchange by Maharashtra IT Minister Ashish Shelar.
The initiative aims to promote everyday cyber safety among citizens. It will focus on simple habits like spotting phishing messages, using strong passwords and being careful with online payments.
Cyber fraud has been rising sharply in India. Officials say most victims fall for basic tricks that awareness can prevent. The campaign will use street-level outreach to reach people where they live and work.
The launch at the BSE underlined the link between digital safety and financial security. DSCI said the campaign will run across cities and will involve schools, colleges and community groups.
UPI frauds and fake customer-care numbers are among the most common tricks reported in India. Police say awareness drives work best when they reach people in their own language and neighbourhood. The campaign’s street-level format is designed to do exactly that.
