Disney and Netflix strike licensing deal for Percy Jackson, Ice Age
Disney and Netflix have struck a new licensing deal that will bring several Disney shows and movies to Netflix in the coming weeks and months, Variety reported on October 2. The agreement is non-exclusive: none of the titles are being removed from Disney+ or Hulu.
The first two seasons of Percy Jackson and the Olympians and all five original Ice Age films arrived on Netflix on October 4 for a limited three-month window. Seasons 1 to 4 of Will Trent arrive on November 3, followed by the first two seasons of Shifting Gears on December 1. Pixar’s Soul and Elio, along with Raya and the Last Dragon, are set to arrive in early 2027.
The timing is deliberate. Season 3 of Percy Jackson premieres exclusively on Disney+ on November 20, while Ice Age: Boiling Point opens in theatres on February 5, 2027. Disney is using Netflix’s larger subscriber base to promote franchises with new releases ahead. Library series including Felicity, Revenge, Army Wives and Fresh Off the Boat are also part of the deal.
