Organizational AI Use Up Eightfold in 3 Years, CPA Canada Finds

The use of AI in Canadian organizations has grown more than eightfold in three years, new CPA Canada research finds.
Organizational AI use rose from 5 percent in 2023 to 43 percent in 2026. The study surveyed 5,000 Canadian CPAs.
Nearly three-quarters now use AI at least weekly at work. Four in ten are involved in AI adoption decisions.
Users report real gains: 90 percent cite better productivity and 86 percent better analysis and problem-solving.
But governance lags behind. Only 45 percent report a formal AI policy and 34 percent report employee training.
Upskilling beats job cuts: 64 percent of firms reskill staff versus 22 percent cutting headcount.
CPA Canada wants stronger federal AI safeguards. It calls for a clear legislative path on AI governance.
The gap between adoption and oversight is the study's warning. Rules must catch up with reality.
Canada is drafting AI legislation for the private sector. The study adds pressure for faster action.
