Canon launches AI-powered Connected Value Platform
Canon USA has announced the Connected Value Platform, a cloud-based service that adds AI-powered features to select home and office printers.
The platform launches first on select PIXMA inkjet printers. Its debut add-on is the Web Print Optimizer, which uses an AI model to clean up cluttered web pages for printing.
The tool analyses documents and images from news and recipe websites. It removes ads, sidebars and extra content, then reformats the page into a clean printable document.
Canon says the feature supports offline reading for news articles. Users can print distraction-free pages for highlighting and focused study.
The platform is designed to add smart, on-demand capabilities over time. Canon will extend it to more printer models and add further AI features.
Canon has not yet shared pricing for the add-on. The company plans to roll out the platform in phases.
The launch shows how printer makers are using generative AI to refresh mature hardware. Cloud-delivered features let devices gain new skills without a hardware upgrade.
