Audible Adds Character Guide, Interactive Stories

Audible is adding new interactive features to its audiobooks. The company announced a Character Guide, Interactive Stories and a Visual Explorer.
The Character Guide helps listeners track who is who in complex stories. It is aimed at long novels with large casts.
Interactive Stories let listeners make choices that change the plot. The first title features Renfield, the servant from Dracula.
The Visual Explorer adds images and maps that appear as the story unfolds. The features are in beta in the US and UK for now.
Audiobooks are a fast-growing market. Companies are adding visuals and interactivity to stand out.
Audible has not said when the features will reach other countries, including India.
The audiobook market has grown rapidly in recent years. Audible, owned by Amazon, faces growing competition from Spotify and Apple. Interactive fiction has a long history in books and games, and Audible is betting listeners want more control over stories.
