USC rallies past Washington 25-21 in thriller

No.18 USC overcame a double-digit deficit to beat Washington 25-21 on Saturday night in a thrilling finish at the Coliseum.
The Trojans trailed 21-10 in the third quarter before their defence took over. Defensive tackle Jahkeem Stewart returned a fumble 48 yards for the go-ahead touchdown.
Stewart, the 295-pound lineman nicknamed “Thanos”, scooped up the ball after Elijah Newby’s sack and rumbled to the end zone for his first career score.
Jayden Maiava passed for 245 yards and hit Tanook Hines for a second-half touchdown as USC scored the game’s final 15 points.
It was USC’s first win over Washington since 2016, easing pressure on coach Lincoln Riley after “Fire Lincoln” chants rang out in the second half.
Washington drove to the USC 12 in the final minute, but Demond Williams Jr.’s pass into the end zone fell incomplete with 39 seconds left.
USC (5-1) overcame nine penalties for 94 yards. Next up: a trip to Penn State to face former defensive coordinator D’Anton Lynn.
