Parrott’s ‘magical’ solo goal lights up Ireland-Austria draw

Troy Parrott scored a stunning solo goal for the Republic of Ireland in their 2-2 UEFA Nations League draw with Austria, the BBC reported.
The Real Betis striker received the ball about 20 yards from goal, nutmegged Philipp Lienhart, sidestepped David Affengruber and slotted the ball through the goalkeeper’s legs.
Manager Heimir Hallgrimsson called the strike “magical”. Parrott added a penalty just before half-time to put Ireland 2-0 up.
The match was played in Dublin on October 2. Austria fought back twice in the second half to earn a point.
Parrott has now scored 14 goals in 40 caps for Ireland, with nine coming in his last six competitive games.
The goal is being replayed across football shows as one of the strikes of the season. Ireland’s Nations League campaign continues next month.
The draw kept Ireland in contention in their Nations League group. Parrott joined Real Betis from AZ Alkmaar in the summer transfer window.
