Texas stays No. 1 in AP Top 25, Florida leaps 13 spots to No. 8
Texas held on to the top spot in the Week 5 AP Top 25 college football poll released on September 27. The Longhorns stayed at No. 1 after winning on the road at Tennessee.
Florida was the biggest mover of the week. The Gators jumped 13 places to No. 8 after a dominant 52-28 win over Ole Miss. Florida is now 4-0 on the season.
Ole Miss dropped five spots to No. 9 after the loss, according to NCAA.com. Georgia remained at No. 2 after demolishing Oklahoma 41-13. Notre Dame is No. 3, Miami rose to No. 4 and Ohio State climbed to No. 5.
Ten SEC teams made the latest poll, including five of the top nine, Saturday Down South reported. Mississippi State jumped eight spots to No. 16 after beating Missouri, while Tennessee fell to No. 17.
Voters will now turn their attention to October’s conference slate, where Florida’s rise will face its first test against tougher opposition.
