Malaysia hosts T20 World Cup Asia qualifiers from Oct 5

Malaysia is hosting the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Sub-Regional Asia Qualifiers A and B from October 5 to 14, as 13 teams begin their journey towards the 2028 T20 World Cup.
Qualifier A, which began on October 5, features seven teams: Bahrain, Bhutan, Kuwait, Mongolia, Myanmar, Qatar and Thailand, playing 21 matches. Qualifier B starts on Thursday with six teams: hosts Malaysia, Hong Kong China, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Maldives and China, playing 15 matches, the ICC said.
Both events use a single round-robin format across three venues: Bayuemas Oval, UKM Oval and the Selangor Turf Club. The top three teams from each qualifier will progress to the Asia qualification pathway in 2027.
All matches will be streamed live on ICC.tv globally and on FanCode in India. Malaysian Cricket Association president Mahinda Vallipuram said hosting the events showcases the continued development of cricket across Asia as teams chase a place at the 2028 World Cup.
