Texas edge rusher Colin Simmons tied a school record with five sacks against No. 14 Tennessee on Saturday. He also drew a flag for one of the strangest celebrations of the season.

Simmons sacked freshman quarterback Faizon Brandon for a 16-yard loss in the second quarter. He then mimed urinating on the field. The referee announced an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for “simulating using the restroom.” The 15-yard flag extended a Tennessee drive that Texas later stopped on downs.

The junior apologized after the game. “I apologize for the celebration,” Simmons said. “I was definitely in that mode, feeling myself.” Coach Steve Sarkisian pulled him aside during the game and told him it could not continue.

The penalty did not ruin his night. Simmons finished with eight tackles, five sacks and a forced fumble. His five sacks tied the Texas single-game record set by Shane Dronett in 1990. He had only two sacks coming into the game.

No. 1 Texas beat Tennessee 20-17 in Knoxville to move to 4-0. Simmons is seen as a possible first-round NFL draft pick.
