Indian boxer Parveen Hooda marched into the women’s 65kg final at the Asian Games 2026 on Tuesday, beating China’s Li Shu 5-0 by unanimous decision at Nishio. The win assured India of at least a silver medal.

Parveen boxed with patience and precision, edging the first round before sweeping the next two on all cards. Three judges scored it 29-28 and two had it 30-27 as she kept control against the Chinese fighter.

She will now face Chinese Taipei’s Chen Nien-chin in the gold medal bout. Chen is an Olympic and world championship bronze medallist, making the final a stern test.

The final caps a remarkable comeback for the Rohtak boxer. Parveen was stripped of her Hangzhou bronze after a whereabouts failure led to a 22-month suspension, which also cost her a Paris Olympics spot. An ITBP assistant sub-inspector, she has funded her father Lakhpat’s cancer treatment through boxing earnings. Silver is assured; gold would complete her redemption.
