New Zealand have lost Mark Chapman and Zak Foulkes for the home T20I series against India. New Zealand Cricket announced the double injury blow on Friday.Batter Chapman suffered a left hamstring tear during the European T20 League last month. He is expected to recover in time for the ODI series against India.

Fast bowler Foulkes injured his right hip flexor during a Canterbury training session, and no timeline has been set for his return.All-rounder Josh Clarkson and fast bowler Blair Tickner have been named as replacements in the 16-member squad. Coach Rob Walter said he was gutted for the injured pair but glad to lean on the experience of Clarkson and Blair.“I know they’re both very excited to be involved in what’s shaping up to be an epic T20 series,” Walter said. The five-match series begins in Christchurch on October 22, followed by five ODIs and two Tests.The sides met in the T20 World Cup final earlier this year, which India won by 96 runs.

New Zealand will hope the replacements settle quickly for the rematch.
