NZ’s Chapman, Foulkes Ruled Out of India T20 Series

New Zealand batter Mark Chapman and fast bowler Zak Foulkes have been ruled out of the Twenty20 series against India with injuries, New Zealand Cricket said on Friday.
Chapman suffered a left hamstring tear during the European T20 League last month. He is expected to recover in time for the one-day international series against India.
Foulkes injured his right hip flexor during a recent Canterbury men’s training session. The board has not set a timeline for his return to action.
All-rounder Josh Clarkson and fast bowler Blair Tickner have been added to the T20 squad as replacements. Coach Rob Walter said he was gutted for the injured pair and wished them a smooth recovery.
New Zealand will host India in five T20s, five one-day internationals and two Tests. The opening T20 is scheduled in Christchurch on October 22.
The injuries test New Zealand’s depth ahead of a long home season. Both replacements will get a chance to press their claims in the shortest format.
