Notre Dame stays No. 3 in AP poll after 49-10 rout of Purdue
Notre Dame stayed at No. 3 in the AP Top 25 on Sunday despite a 49-10 rout of rival Purdue, holding its spot for the fourth straight week. The Fighting Irish are 4-0 after the win at Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette on Saturday.
Quarterback CJ Carr threw three touchdown passes and ran for another score, finishing 14 of 22 for 237 yards, according to the Associated Press. Linebacker Drayk Bowen added a 15-yard fumble return touchdown as the Irish led 35-0 at halftime.
The win was Notre Dame's first undefeated September under coach Marcus Freeman, though the rout was not enough to move voters. Texas held No. 1 after edging Tennessee 20-17, Georgia stayed No. 2 after beating Oklahoma 41-13, and Miami climbed to No. 4.
