Missouri Routs Florida 45-17 for Gators’ First Loss

Missouri handed Florida its first loss of the season with a 45-17 rout in Columbia on Saturday. The Tigers piled up points in every quarter of the Week 5 showdown.
Missouri quarterback Austin Simmons found Kenric Lanier II for 13 yards on a third-and-7 conversion that kept a key drive alive. An unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Jamari Lyons added 15 more yards as the Tigers stayed in control.
Florida’s offense never found a rhythm. A holding penalty on Luke Harpring killed one promising drive, and quarterback Aaron Philo threw two incompletions before Alec Clark punted the ball away.
Freshman Tramell Jones Jr. led a late touchdown drive for Florida, hitting TJ Abrams for a 42-yard score with 47 seconds left. Evan Pryor added seven rushing yards in the fourth quarter.
Missouri’s defense kept Florida’s attack bottled up all evening. The loss drops Florida as Missouri strengthens its standing in the SEC race.
