No. 24 Mississippi State stayed unbeaten with a 31-24 win over No. 19 Missouri on Saturday night at Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville. The Bulldogs scored 14 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to seal the comeback. Quarterback Kamario Taylor threw for 360 yards and three touchdowns, completing 27 of 38 passes. His 24-yard touchdown pass to Sanfrisco Magee with 3:57 remaining broke a 24-24 tie and gave Mississippi State the lead for good. Missouri’s final drive stalled when the Bulldogs defense forced a turnover on downs. Fluff Bothwell added 122 rushing yards and a touchdown for the winners. Missouri quarterback Austin Simmons threw for 295 yards and three touchdowns but could not keep pace late. Mississippi State improved to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the Southeastern Conference. The Bulldogs jumped out to a 14-0 first-quarter lead before Missouri fought back to take a 24-17 lead in the third. Missouri fell to 3-1 with its first loss of the season and has now lost eight consecutive games against Top-25 opponents. Coach Eli Drinkwitz said his team had chances but failed to finish.
