Kranti Gaud fined for fiery send-off in Asia Cup final

India pacer Kranti Gaud has been fined 10 percent of her match fee for an aggressive send-off to Sri Lanka opener Imesha Dulani in the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 final.
The incident happened in the first over of Sri Lanka’s chase of 184 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on September 13. After bowling Dulani with a mistimed paddle shot crashing into leg stump, Gaud gestured toward the batter in an aggressive manner.
Match referee Supriya Das found Gaud guilty of breaching Level 1 of Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which covers language, actions or gestures that disparage a batter or could provoke an aggressive reaction. She also received a demerit point, her first such offence in a 24-month period.
India went on to win the final by 72 runs, with Shree Charani taking 4 for 20 and Deepti Sharma 3 for 19, securing the eighth Asia Cup crown.
The fine is a reminder that even in big finals, the game’s code applies to everyone.
