Ishan Kishan Presses for Test Spot as Pant Faces Pressure

Ishan Kishan is pushing hard for a Test recall ahead of India’s tour of New Zealand, with the squad expected to be named within the next 48 hours.
Kishan was the leading scorer in the Duleep Trophy with 409 runs, including a 270 against South Zone in the final, and captained East Zone to the title. Reports say he has entered red-ball discussions under interim chief selector Pragyan Ojha.
Rishabh Pant, meanwhile, is under scrutiny. Dropped from the ODI squad, he remains a Test regular but has not played white-ball cricket for India in over two years. He is expected to play at least one India A game to prepare for New Zealand.
The five-Test New Zealand tour matters for India’s World Test Championship hopes. India have not won a Test in New Zealand for a long time.
With three keepers in the mix, the selection meeting will decide whether Kishan travels as a third gloveman or must wait longer.
