India Eye Series Lead in 2nd T20 Against Windies Today
India take on the West Indies in the second T20 of their five-match series in Ranchi on Friday, looking to build on their commanding win in Lucknow.
India lead the series 1-0 after Tuesday’s eight-wicket victory. Captain Shreyas Iyer’s unbeaten 102 off 43 balls was the standout, with Ishan Kishan supporting in an unbroken 137-run stand.
The bowling unit also impressed in the opener. Debutant Naman Dhir claimed 3 for 31, while Kuldeep Yadav and the spinners tightened the grip through the middle overs.
West Indies will need a stronger batting show. Shai Hope’s 52 and Sherfane Rutherford’s 56 were the bright spots in their 171 all out.
A win in Ranchi would put India 2-0 up with three games to play, tightening their hold on the series.
Ranchi has a reputation for spin-friendly conditions, which could suit India’s attack. The visitors will hope their power-hitters find form after a modest total in Lucknow.
The five-match series is part of India’s busy home season. A strong series win would boost confidence ahead of tougher assignments.
